Honorable Mention
This Woman is a River
Sam Pearce

Wordstreams flow wild
in this woman.
Blue ink on white paper
swirls and whirlpools
ripple and rush
from the chasms
within her.

This river runs swiftly
twists through stones
carves on rocks,
soars like the eagle
flows on windstreams
written with feathers
that wind through the hair
of woman and river.

Weave their story
in the blood of the river,
sing through the water
a twin song of birth.
The heart of the woman
is etched into bedrock,
channels lifestreams
squeezed through arteries,
roll and tumble
to the ultimate ocean
